During my second co-op at Desktop Metal, I worked on the Research and Development team on the Production line of 3D printers, which mass produce metal parts. Here, I got a lot of practical SolidWorks and rapid prototyping experience. I especially loved the start up environment and ability to work in coordination with diverse teams across the company like Process Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Marketing. Unfortunately, I am unable to share all the CAD and details regarding many of my projects as they are proprietary.

Skills DemonstratedThis project demonstrates the rapid prototyping process I often implemented at Desktop Metal. To test dimensions of parts I designed quickly, I tended to print thin cross sections (~10 minutes per print) using PLA on the Prusa i3 MK3s before putting on longer prints of the thicker final part.
